What is a visa?

• A visa is a type of endorsement or confirmation in its original sense, and its meaning is different according to national policy.
  It is divided into the meaning of "confirmation of immigration permission," which acknowledges that a foreigner can enter the country, and the country that the consular officer refers to as "the act of recommending entry" for a foreigner's permission for entry. In Korea, we understand the latter meaning, "Recommendation of Consular Entry to Foreigner's Application for Entry Permit."
  Therefore, even if a foreigner holds a visa, he/she may not be allowed to enter the country if he/she does not meet the immigration requirements as a result of an immigration examination by the airport immigration officer's examiner.

Times when you can enter without a visa

• A visa is a basic requirement for an immigration permit. Foreigners intending to enter the Republic of Korea should, in principle, have a visa.
  However, the following persons can enter without a visa (Immigration Control Act Article 7. (2))
  • A person who has been granted a re-entry permit or who is exempted from a re-entry permit and who enters before the expiration date of the permit or exemption expires
  • A citizen of a State who has concluded a visa exemption agreement with the Republic of Korea and is subject to exemption under the agreement
  • Those who enter Korea for international goodwill, tourism, or interests of the Republic of Korea and who have been granted permission to enter the country as prescribed by the President
  • Those who are issued a refugee travel certificate and come to Korea before their expiration date

Types of Visa

• Single Visa: You can only enter once within the validity period. The validity period is three months from the issue date.
• Multiple Visa
  • You can enter more than twice within the validity period. Valid period: Since the issue date
  • Within three years of the visa corresponding to diplomatic (A-1) /~Agreement (A-3)
  • Visa under the multiple visa issuance agreement applies to the period from the agreement.
  • Visa issued in consideration of reciprocity and other national interests shall be deemed to be the period specified by the Minister of Justice

Precautions

• If a person who requests permission to issue enters the country before the decision is approved, the applicant will be deemed to have given up the application and will be dismissed.
• If you want to get a visa after three months from the date of receipt of the visa issuance application or visa issuance notice from the Minister of Justice, you must apply for a new visa.

Currency Exchange

• Foreign currency exchange transactions can be conducted at a bank within an airport or a bureau de change or any bank in Seoul.
• You can exchange your foreign currency or travelers’ checks with Korean currency (won)
• You must present your passport or foreign national registration certificate when making a currency exchange transaction.
